Anna Douglas, CEO of SkyNano, served as a guest columnist for Knox News to discuss how SBIR/STTR funds and matching dollars from the state fuel the growth of tech-based small businesses such as her own.
In 2019, SkyNano received an SBIR matching grant from the state to support the development of our technology and cover the cost of necessary expenses. The company has counted on the SBIR/STTR matching program, but the program has not been funded in the new proposed FY22 budget. Anna proposes that legislators must restore this funding to double 2019’s commitment, to make up for the lack of funds in 2020-21.
